Position Description

Department: Product

Accountable To: Director of Product

Summary: We’re looking for a technically strong, operationally minded professional to own the day-to-day management of Enersponse’s control provider integrations, utility automation connections, and partner relationships. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of energy markets, building automation, and partner success.

You will be the primary point of contact for control providers (e.g., HVAC control companies, EMS, BMS, SCADA, etc), utility automation interfaces, and internal teams coordinating site readiness and ongoing curtailment performance for DR season. You’ll monitor connectivity, run signal tests, troubleshoot failures, manage VEN configurations, and ensure every enrolled site is ready to perform when dispatched.

Compensation: Competitive salary, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Own the end-to-end relationship with control providers - onboarding new providers, managing credentials, coordinating staging tests, and maintaining production connections

  • Serve as the technical liaison for national retail accounts, and support customers who self-test via DRMS, ensuring they have appropriate access and understanding of the platform

  • Configure and maintain OpenADR VEN/VTN

  • Monitor VEN and API connectivity daily in DRMS - identify offline connections, escalate to control providers, track and manage to resolution

  • Manage migrations between control provider vendors, ensuring backstop connections remain active during testing before cutting over

  • Configure and project-manage utility automation connections (OpenADR, API, email-based dispatch) across utility programs. Coordinate with utilities and their contractors to obtain credentials, and configure dispatch pathways

  • Ensure seasonal readiness by completing all pre-season signal tests for national accounts and newly added sites

  • Plan, schedule, and execute signal tests with control providers and customers - coordinate timing to minimize operational disruption and avoid baseline interference

  • Maintain and update the DR curtailment strategy document - documenting each account’s control provider, dispatch method, signal levels, and customer-specific control requirements

  • Maintain a current contact list for all control providers, including connection types and escalation paths

  • Identify opportunities to deepen partnerships, improve integration quality, and expand Enersponse’s reach within partner organizations

  • Identify and recommend process improvements, including automation opportunities that can be built into DRMS

Required Qualifications & Experience:

These are ideal qualifications and qualities for a person in this role. If you have variations but would still be suitable and successful in this role, please reach out.

  • 3+ years in a technical account management, partner success, or controls/integration engineering role within the energy, building automation, or IoT sector

  • Strong working knowledge of OpenADR (2.0a/2.0b) - VEN/VTN configuration, signal testing, credential management, and troubleshooting connectivity issues

  • Experience with API integrations - REST APIs, credential management, and coordinating with third-party developers on integration projects

  • Strong project management skills - ability to track dozens of concurrent site onboardings, provider migrations, and test schedules

  • Excellent written and verbal communication - comfortable coordinating across control providers, utility contacts, national account reps, and internal engineering teams

  • Self-directed and organized - this role requires daily monitoring routines and proactive issue identification without close supervision

  • Familiarity with Demand Response programs and ISO/utility market operations (CAISO and/or PJM preferred)

  • Ability to read and interpret interval meter data, site telemetry, and dispatch logs to diagnose performance issues

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience with control providers (e.g., HVAC control companies, EMS, BMS, SCADA, etc), DRMS platforms, building automation systems or energy management systems

  • Understanding of curtailment strategies across different building types (retail, grocery, industrial) and an understanding of what physically happens on site

  • Experience working with large national retail accounts in a DR or energy services context

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy management, computer science, or related field

What Success Looks Like:

  • In your first 90 days, you will have:

  • Established daily monitoring routines for VEN and API connectivity across all active control providers

  • Built relationships with key control provider contacts and national account DR leads

  • Completed a full review of the curtailment strategy document and identified any gaps

  • Successfully coordinated at least one round of pre-season signal testing

  • Demonstrated fluency in DRMS workflows - site management, VEN/VTN and API configuration, program assignment, and test dispatch

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and opportunity to advance in a small, fast-growing company

  • 100% employer-paid premiums - medical, dental and vision for the employee

  • 401(k) Plan

  • Flexible PTO Policy

  • Hybrid work schedule

  • Fully remote - work from anywhere in the United States
